Well, that explains it

I had the misfortune of getting caught in rather nasty traffic on San Vicente yesterday evening, and I was wondering what was going on since I was seeing side-streets closed, large numbers of police cars down one street and painfully slow traffic.

And I was also seeing a lot of cars with a red, blue and orange flag attached to them.

Were these perhaps related? It turns out, courtesy of L.A. Observed, that they were. There was apparently a protest outside the Turkish Consulate to commemorate the Armenian genocide.
